GCT 03: Youth-Led Climate Action & Environmental Education Initiative

“A cross-continental program empowering youth to lead environmental change through education, action, and international collaboration”.
Coordinated by GCT – Norway In partnership with GCT–Africa.

Overview

GCT 03 is a climate-focused pilot project under Global Community Transformation (GCT), designed to equip young people in Norway and across the GCT International network with tools, knowledge, and platforms to address the urgent challenges of environmental degradation and climate change. This initiative aims to foster environmental responsibility, cross-cultural collaboration, and sustainable innovation by placing youth at the center of global green efforts.

Vision

To build a generation of youth leaders who are climate-conscious, action-oriented, and committed to ecological sustainability across local and global contexts.

Core Objectives

  • Environmental Education: Deliver interdisciplinary workshops and campaigns focused on climate literacy, environmental justice, and the science of sustainability.
  • Youth Engagement: Mobilize school and community-based youth groups in Norway and Africa to lead local green initiatives.
  • Innovation & Action: Support youth-led environmental projects including waste management, green entrepreneurship, and climate advocacy.
  • International Exchange: Facilitate dialogue and collaboration between Norwegian and African youth through intercultural forums and joint campaigns.

Activities & Components

  • School & Community Workshops: Climate education activities hosted in collaboration with schools, youth centers, and local councils.
  • Eco-Actions: Clean-up drives, tree planting, and zero-waste initiatives led by youth groups.
  • Green Innovation Labs: Incubators for climate-smart solutions in areas such as renewable energy, agriculture, and eco-tourism.

Strategic Relevance

The project also bridges environmental education and intercultural dialogue, making it both a sustainability and peacebuilding effort.

Call for Action, Partnership & Engagement

GCT – Norway and GCT International invite government agencies, municipalities, schools, universities, youth-led organisations, environmental institutions, and international partners to join us in co-creating a new generation of climate leaders.

We believe that climate action must be rooted in education, youth empowerment, and intercultural collaboration—and we welcome partners who share this vision. Whether through co-hosting events, contributing expertise, funding pilot initiatives, or providing platforms for youth voices, your involvement is vital to the success and long-term sustainability of GCT 03.
